THE INCIDENT

Black and white portrait of Emmy Mawumenyo resting against a white curtain, a finger to her lips.

My name is Lois, and this is my tale.

It was meant to be a harmless visit. I had already rehearsed all that would happen when I get there. I would go, we would talk and I’d relax because why not? He is my most trusted and it didn’t matter how I felt about him, he wouldn’t touch me unless I initiated it. Well, that was a dumb thing to think apparently.

That day of all days, he initiated something by touching me and all the plans and sane decisions completely vanished. They weren’t just there anymore.

He touched, I responded, and the rest they say quickly became history. Did I get the satisfaction? Not entirely… but the did was done. After, I wanted to get the post pill but there was this tiny voice in my head that said I didn’t have to do it. It was clear when I heard my minds voice telling me I could get pregnant and even keep it. He didn’t have to know.

Yes, I listened, I didn’t buy, I didn’t take, I just lived.

There were no questions asked about it, and life continued.

….to be continued.
